Meet the IncluCities mentoring pairs

IncluCities videos

As one of the official deliverables in the framework of the IncluCities project, we created a series of videos, presenting each mentoring pair, their objective, best practices and featuring key people behind the project.

Mechelen (BE) - Capaci (IT) 'Tutti Capaci!' or We can do it! Mechelen is one of the European cities that are a reference for an open and inclusive society. However, it hasn't always been like that. In the past twenty years, the city has gone through a transformation until they built their own city slogan "Where diversity is a strength and solidarity a must!" Mechelen and Capaci in Siciliy are working together to exchange experience to build a vision of a city for all. This short video presents the start of their journey. Featuring some of the Mechelen's experiences in migrant integration, including BUDDIES - the best practice that could help Capaci to become a nationwide reference for migrant inclusion.

Schaerbeek (BE) - Jelgava (LV)

From Latvia to Belgium, learning the language is the core element of successful integration. By connecting Belgian Schaerbeek and Latvian Jelgava, IncluCities is trying to find ideas and lessons learned to build better opportunities for language learning for the newcomers and established minorities. Schaerbeek and Jelgava are joining forces to exchange knowledge, experience and best practices in order to build more inclusive cities. This short video presents who they are, what they do, and which are the lessons learned after the first round of IncluCities study visits.

Fuenlabrada (ES) - Levadia (GR)

This is a short story about IncluCities: two European cities, connecting Spain and Greece, with the same objective to improve the lives of migrants in their local contexts. Fuenlabrada and Levadia are collaborating to exchange experience and best practices in social integration and active participation of new arrivals in the local community. This short video presents initiatives and lessons learned from the mentor city. The first study visit focused on the state of play and expectations from Levadia,  the mentee city, where the change in integration practices with a focus on labour market integration is about to be implemented.

City of Brussels (BR) - Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle (FR)

The IncluCities story, connecting Belgium and France, with the same objective to improve the lives of migrants in their local contexts. The City of Brussels and Saint-Jean-De-La-Ruelle are exchanging knowledge and sharing experience to improve local integration practices. The City of Brussels is a multicultural city and every third person has a foreign nationality. With 184 nationalities, it represents a place where the inclusion of newcomers isn't just a project, but a daily practice. This video is featuring their best practices that could be replicated in another local context, such as the reception centre for newcomers - BAPA Bxl. City of Brussels and BRULOCALIS are supporting Saint Jean de la Ruelle in conducting a strategic gender-sensitive needs assessment of migrants and refugees in their local territory.
